Jukebox Jams continue on ABC-TV’s The View

Much to the delight of doo wopp fans everywhere, ABC-TV’s The View has featured some of the best-known groups of the 50’s and 60’s live on national television over the course of the last several weeks.  The series was sparked by a performance by acappella stars The Persuasions on May 26, in which they mentioned their “Buffalo Soldier” was inspired by the original version by The Flamingos.  Handlers of Flamingos’ legend Terry Johnson reached out to the producers of the network TV show who lit up at the idea of having rock and roll pioneers grace their stage.  Within weeks, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and his group were schmoozing with Whoopi Goldberg and teaching Raven Simone how to sing backstage.

The performance kicked off a series that The View is calling Jukebox Jam.  It continued with The Crystals, Little Anthony & The Imperials and Charlie Thomas’ Drifters.
